The short version: we only collect what a card needs to work, we don’t sell it or use it for ads, and it’s deleted when the card is. CardAround by Extnd Labs, Melbourne, Australia.
What we collect and why
- From the person starting a card: their name and email, and the recipient’s name and email. Used to run the card and send the emails about it. If the recipient replies to the card’s email, the reply goes to the person who started the card.
- From people signing: the name they type, their message, and any photo or GIF they add. These are shown on the card to anyone with its link.
- When a card is opened: the time, so the person who started it can see it arrived.
- Payments: handled by our payment provider. We never see or store card numbers.
- If you ask for updates: your email, to send news about new features and the odd offer. Only if you tick the box when making a card. Every one of those emails has a link to unsubscribe in one click.
- To stop abuse: a scrambled record of the network address a card was started from, used to limit how many cards one address can start in a day.
Cookies and your browser
- We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Your browser keeps a few small notes for you, like which messages you wrote, so you can edit them without an account. They stay on your device.
- We count visits without cookies, and without following you around the web.
What we do with it
We don’t sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it for anything other than running CardAround.
How long it’s kept
If you signed up for updates, your email stays on that list until you unsubscribe. Everything about a card (names, emails, messages, photos) is deleted 12 months after the card is sent, or 90 days after it was started if it’s never sent. Payment records are kept as the law requires.
Deleting things
- The person who started a card can delete it, with every message and photo on it, at any time from the card’s page. It’s gone for good straight away.
- Anyone who signed can edit or delete their own message from the device they signed on, until the card is sent.
- To have anything else removed, to ask what we hold about you, or to correct it, email us and we’ll sort it within 30 days.
Anyone with a card’s link can read it, so only share the link with people who should see it.
